As you can tell from username, this is one of my favorite series! Thank you so much for making this game, I'd wished for years we had it on the Genesis and now we do!
I haven't had a chance to play through yet. Does it include all of the levels from the original, plus the harder version after you've beaten it?
I'd love in the future to see a de-make of Elevator Action Returns for the Genesis/ MD.

yes - it is all in there!

I tested it on two clone EverDrives a V2 and a V3 Pro. The V3 Pro worked very well, but the V2 clone didn't... It goes straight to this screen.  V0.81alpha

Nice work! A small observation: Leila's sprite lipstick makeup looks a bit exaggerated due to the pixel sizes (looks almost like clown makeup), so I think she would be better off without it.

Runs fine so far. Is this the entire game?

Yes

Tested v0.81 build on PAL clone + chinese Everdrive V3 and it works great. So far, the only problems i noticed is the "Ammo" door not working properly on stage 2 in some rare cases, and  HUD bars being cyan green instead of black, so it looks really odd now.

Also, as you're porting non-Capcom games now, it would be awesome to see the MD version of Heavy Barrel someday in the future, considering that it also runs on 68000 CPU. The NES version is good, however, many of the original arcade details were lost when porting it to the 8-bit system, and theoretically, MD should be able to handle it much better.

Stage 2 AMMO door fails, does it refuse entry, fail to refill ammo, or show the wrong door animation? Also, was this Arcade, solo Home, or two-player Home?

Solo Home, failed to refill ammo several times.

However, i'm not entirely sure if it really was the bug, or i'm just haven't noticed that i entered this door before.

there should be no background color for the hud, the original arcade game had the hud on screen in the foreground, it would look a lot better like that

However, considering the hardware limitations, there's no real way to get rid of that, so keeping it black is the best available option.

Thanks a lot for adapting it to 4 MB — it really runs great.

Albatross is displayed in front of a door after entering it. Cutscenes seem to be missing sound. The game crashes after losing all lives. The game crashed when playing a sound in sound test. Other than that it's already very playable. Tested on RetroArch. I still hope you can reduce ROM file size to 32 megabits.

I forgot: please add button C for jumping.

Rester...the game file doesn´t run. Please check it.

pls provide details of your set up

Just only doesn´t load Rester. No more than that. I am using Kfusion emulator this time.

Any way to make the portraits in the character screen faithful to the original? I love the promise of this! Great ideas here. However, the portraits are all wrong. See my attached image here for how to fix it. The one you went with feel like the rolling Thunder 2 pics. Wrong hair, wrong costumes. Also you should keep it to first names. I did a mock up for you (a redux). You can use it if you want (I don’t need credit). Good luck with this!

fair point

P.S. Also, if you are going to go with AI art (which I could be wrong BUT that is what your portraits felt like) you could run it through a post-process pixel-it routine (the benefit of which is it makes it look more like the pixel art of the time, and the new doesn't clash with the old as much, just my 2 cents... I attached an example of using the AI generated art above with the process I am talking about here (looks more like the 1980s arcade art!) https://pixelartvillage.com/

how are the cut scenes handled if you play Leila? I ask because in the original they show her captured.

yeah - it will become leila's sister. suggest a name!

that’s easy … Lana :)

when you report bugs PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS on your exact setup. 'Rom is broken' does not help

Great choice. The Mega Drive deserves a good RT1 version. Too bad it's so crazy big and not working on cheap Everdrive clones and some emulators. Why does it need to this big anyway. RT2 is 8mbit, Rt3 12mbit. Please tell the AI to stay within the 32mbit limit so more players can try this on real hardware.

how big is it?!!?!

Rom is broken. Cannot start a game.

Console or emulator?

Emulator, Mednafen 1.32.1. I just tried to get the game to run as a Mega Drive Plus Game in RetroArch under Gens Plus GX and it did start there as an MD+ Game.

It would also be cool to see a classic Konami beat-'em-up.

I went to test it, and it’s not working.

Console or emulator?

Hello, it's not working on the emulator :-/

Thank you.

Fantastic news! I’d like to try it on my everdrive, but it’s too big.

worked just fine on my cheapo everdrive, anything above 3mb usually takes a minute to load

My cheap everdrive only allows me to record 4 mb or less.

Wow, rolling thunder, did not expect that!
can confirm it boots on real hardware, tested on model 1 NTSC genesis

game plays great, first level track seems to have a little skip issue here and there, please remove the black bar at the bottom and top of the hud just like the arcade, i think it will look a lot better, i think the intro to the game is missing when starting arcade mode, in home mode there is no way to set controls differently, i would also make B shoot and C jump instead, when switching between each character on the select your agent screen, the image goes black for a second switching back and forth,

I would also add an attract mode to all of your ports,  so far this is great tho, ill keep updating this comment, the more i find, i would also add more tags to the itch.io page for side arms and this, it will help users find your projects easier

thank you for putting out another genesis port
